We offer 2 types of cake toppers, frosting sheets and wafer sheets. They can both be placed on all types of food surfaces, including ice cream, frosting, butter-cream, fondant, chocolate, icing (including roll-out icing, sugar paste, fondant, Royal icing, or glace icing). The choice of which edible paper to use comes down to price and effect. Wafer paper is much cheaper. It has texture, is a little translucent, and more noticeable. It's great for creating lightweight designs such as flowers or 3D decorations, and can also be used as a cake topper, but the print quality is less vibrant due.
In contrast, icing sheets (or frosting sheets) are made from sugar-based ingredients making it more flexible, opaque, and it appears more seamlessly as a cake topper, providing high-resolution, vivid prints. Frosting sheets are a lot more popular when used as cake toppers for photo cakes or designs and the prints look more professional.
